Application Settings
The Settings button in the top-right of the application dashboard opens the application settings hub, organised into three panels: Access, Structure & UI, and Advanced. This reference lists every destination and the settings each one contains.
Application settings require instance admin access for the most part; Limited Admins can modify configuration only on tables their role already has access to. Application-level operations are also available through the REST API; see the Applications endpoint reference.
Panels
| Panel | Sections |
|---|---|
| Access | Users, Roles |
| Structure & UI | Tables, Dashboards, Pages, Relationships, Menus |
| Advanced | Workflows, Variables, Properties, Maintenance, Job Logs |
Users
The user list shows each person's name, email, Role, last activity, Display in Dropdowns, and Active status; the last two can be toggled directly in the list. Add User takes an email address and a role, with options to Send Email (the invitation), Display in Dropdowns, and Active. Add Users adds several people at once. Each user holds exactly one role per application, and deleting a user removes them from the application while keeping their instance account.
Roles
The roles list shows each role's name, description, and display-only columns for Is Admin, Is Limited Admin, Can Invite, and Read Only. Opening a role reveals its general settings and table permissions; the full option set is documented in Permission types.
Tables, Dashboards, Pages
These lists manage the application's structure: tables (see Table settings), application-level dashboards that can draw reports from any table, and custom pages. Each list offers view, edit, duplicate, and add actions.
Relationships
The entity relationship diagram showing how the application's tables connect, rendered from foreign key and lookup fields.
Menus
The menu builder, where navigation is assembled by dragging items from the Tables, Dashboards, Pages, Reports, and Forms tabs. Use Group for collapsible sections and Application Homepage to set the app's home link. Hover any item to change its icon and label or remove it. Each role can be given its own menu, or share the application default.
Workflows and Variables
Workflows automate tasks triggered by data changes; each has a name, description, and an Active toggle (copied applications arrive with workflows inactive). Variables store and share values across the application, each with a name and value.
Properties
The Properties section configures the application itself:
| Setting | What it does |
|---|---|
| Icon, Instance Name, Description | The application's identity; renaming the application is done by changing the name |
| Date Format, Time Format, Date/Time Format | How dates and times display throughout the application |
| Default Currency | The currency used by number fields that display as currency |
| Default Menu | The menu shown to users by default; roles can have their own |
| Public Role | The role assigned to anonymous visitors |
Setting a Public Role opens the application to the internet: anyone with the URL can access it with that role's permissions. The public role cannot be an Administrator or Limited Admin, cannot invite users, and cannot have table settings or permission-management access. Leave it unset unless you intend to publish the application publicly.
Maintenance
| Operation | What it does |
|---|---|
| Copy Application | Copies tables, fields, dashboards, forms, reports, menus, pages, roles, and permissions; answering yes to the data prompt also copies every record. Workflows in the copy start inactive |
| Delete Application | Removes the application and everything in it; requires typing delete application to confirm and cannot be undone |
Job Logs
The results of email and webhook jobs fired by the application's tables, useful for debugging automations.
