Build a Form

This page walks through building a form for a table. When you're finished users can add, edit, and view records through the layout you designed.

Steps

  1. Open the table's Settings, look under the User Interface panel, and click Forms.

  2. Click Add Form to open the form builder. The builder has three tabs: Form (the layout canvas), Rules (conditional logic), and Properties (form-level settings).

  3. On the Form tab, drag fields from the sidebar onto the canvas. Fields already used on the form are greyed out, and each field can appear only once. You can also click New Field or Add Fields in the sidebar to create table fields without leaving the builder.

  4. Optionally drag widgets next to your fields:

    • Section: a titled group of fields with a configurable column count.
    • Tabs: a tabbed container, each tab with its own layout.
    • Separator: a visual divider.
    • Rich Text: a block of formatted content for instructions shown on the form itself.
  5. Resize widgets by dragging their edges. Click the customize (gear) action on any widget for its settings: fields have a Custom Label and per-mode visibility toggles, so you can show a field when adding a record but hide it when viewing one.

  6. On the Rules tab, add conditional logic if the form needs to adapt: each rule has a When condition and Actions such as show, hide, require, or make a field read only when the condition matches.

  7. On the Properties tab, set the form's Form Name (required), an optional Description, and the behavior options:

    • Display core fields at bottom of form: shows created and last-modified metadata under the form.
    • Display on Menu: adds the form to the application's navigation.
    • Redirect on Add, Redirect on Edit, and Redirect on Cancel: where the user lands after saving or cancelling.
  8. Click Preview Mode in the top bar to check the form as users will see it, then Exit Preview Mode to return to editing.

  9. Click Save to return to the Forms list.

Making it the default

To use your form as the table's default (shown when a user opens a record and no role default applies), set it in Table Settings → Properties under UI Settings. A role can also pin its own default form per table in the role's table permissions.

Where to go next

The same form builder is reflected in the REST API. See the Forms endpoint reference.
