Build a Dashboard
This page walks through building a dashboard for a table or an application. When you're finished the dashboard can serve as a home screen, a report wall, or a working surface with live forms.
Building dashboards requires an application where your role has admin or limited admin access, and at least one table with reports to place on the canvas.
Steps
-
Open the dashboard list. Table dashboards live under Table Settings → User Interface → Dashboards; application dashboards, which can pull reports from any table, live under Application Settings → Structure & UI → Dashboards.
-
Click Add Dashboard to open the dashboard builder. The builder has two tabs: Dashboard (the layout canvas) and Properties (dashboard-level settings).
-
Drag items from the palette on the right onto the canvas:
- Reports: drag any report from the list (each report can appear once per dashboard).
- Tile: a KPI counter; pick a table, an optional query, and a field to summarize.
- Form: an embedded record form; pick a table and one of its forms.
- Button: a clickable button with a label, icon, color, and link.
- Website: embed an external page in an iframe via its URL.
- Rich Text: a block of formatted content for headings or instructions.
- Section and Tabs: containers for organising other widgets.
-
Drag widgets to reposition them and drag their edges to resize. The canvas supports Auto flow (widgets stack automatically) or Manual positioning; in Manual mode, use the emulate buttons to check desktop, tablet, and mobile layouts.
-
Hover any widget for its controls: a cog opens Customize settings (each widget type has its own options), and an X removes it.
-
On the Properties tab, enter the Dashboard Name (required) and turn on Display on Menu if the dashboard should appear in the application's navigation.
-
Click Save to return to the Dashboards list.
Making it the landing page
To open your dashboard automatically: for a table, set it as the Default Dashboard in Table Settings → Properties under UI Settings; for the application, set it as the role's Default Dashboard in the role's general settings, or as the application default in Properties.
