Create an Application
This page walks through creating an application from the instance home screen. When you're done you'll have a working application with a default dashboard, a starter menu, and four roles ready to configure.
Creating applications requires instance admin access. If you don't see the Add Application button, ask your instance administrator to create the application for you.
Steps
-
From the instance home screen, click Add Application in the top-right corner.
-
Fill in the application's basics:
- Icon: pick an icon to represent the application.
- Name: the application's name.
- Description: an optional description shown in settings and lists.
- Date Format, Time Format, and Date/Time Format: how dates and times display everywhere in this application.
- Default Currency: the currency used by number fields that display as currency.
-
Click Save. High Systems creates the application and takes you to its Settings page.
What you get
The new application arrives with a starting structure, so you can begin building immediately:
- A Default Dashboard: the screen users see when they open the application.
- A Default Menu: navigation starting with a Homepage item.
- Four roles: Administrator, Limited Admin, User, and Viewer.
- Your account, added to the application with the Administrator role.
None of this needs manual setup; it's all handled at creation time.
Where to go next
- Add a table so the application has data to work with: Create a table
- Set up who can use the application: Create a role
- Understand what the settings panels do: Application settings reference
The same creation flow is available through the REST API. See the Applications endpoint reference.
